A route to explore · Ontario

I have an architecture degree from abroad but do not know how it is recognized in Ontario.

Start with assessment of a foreign architecture degree

Your starting point

Use CACB's academic certification guidance to identify the category for your education and required transcript/course documents.

A pathway helps you explore. It does not decide eligibility or guarantee admission, funding, licensing or work. Each program has its own checked date.

01 / Start with your situation

Your first steps

  1. Use CACB's academic certification guidance to identify the category for your education and required transcript/course documents.
  2. Ask the Ontario Association of Architects about the licensing steps after academic certification.
  3. Separately, ask JVS about IPLAN Employment eligibility and current intake for architecture-sector job preparation; budget assessment costs and investigate eligible financing.

02 / Compare real options

Programs and organizations to explore

Open a program to see requirements, costs, funding and the official starting point.

03 / Check affordability

Possible funding

These are leads to assess individually. Loans must be repaid, and grants have conditions.

04 / Before you commit

Important distinctions

  • Academic certification, employment preparation and an Ontario architect licence are separate outcomes.
  • An architecture degree alone does not establish eligibility for the experienced-architect BEFA route. Confirm JVS service-area and status requirements.
