Your first steps

  1. Before paying, ask EP@eco.ca how your foreign degree, overseas work and any Canadian experience are assessed, and whether EP or the separate EPt route fits.
  2. Request the current application/exam guide and confirm required evidence, references and total fees.
  3. If eligible, prepare the application and arrange the exam through ECO's certification process.

ECO explicitly advertises monthly exam windows and application reviews within ten business days. Personal eligibility and the next available exam slot still require confirmation.

Requirements and limits

  • The current designation overview describes EP as for people with at least five years of environmental experience.
  • The current FAQ states a minimum two-year postsecondary diploma and assessment of education, experience, competencies and supporting documents.
  • The current public pages do not clearly specify how overseas experience substitutes for Canadian experience or which foreign credential reports are required. Obtain an eligibility determination before paying.
  • Pass the EP Body of Knowledge exam and complete required reviews/references and approval. Continuing professional development and annual renewal are required afterward.

Current public pages reviewed do not publish definitive immigration-status/residency criteria or the international-experience calculation. Do not treat all newcomers or all foreign experience as automatically eligible.
