A route to explore · Ontario

I have a degree from abroad in mathematics, engineering or another quantitative subject. Must I start again?

Build on a quantitative degree to explore actuarial work

Your starting point

Gather transcripts and course outlines; ask each institution to assess degree equivalence and mathematics prerequisites.

A pathway helps you explore. It does not decide eligibility or guarantee admission, funding, licensing or work. Each program has its own checked date.

01 / Start with your situation

Your first steps

  1. Gather transcripts and course outlines; ask each institution to assess degree equivalence and mathematics prerequisites.
  2. Compare Waterloo's revised Fall 2027 master's with York's certificate, including credential outcome, duration and professional recognition.
  3. Confirm the full cost and funding before applying. Waterloo's revised fees remain pending, and York's standalone certificate funding is unconfirmed.

02 / Compare real options

Programs and organizations to explore

Open a program to see requirements, costs, funding and the official starting point.

03 / Check affordability

Possible funding

These are leads to assess individually. Loans must be repaid, and grants have conditions.

04 / Before you commit

Important distinctions

  • A foreign degree alone does not establish eligibility for the current CIA Pathway 2.
  • York's certificate is not listed as a CIA-accredited degree; do not assume Pathway 1 eligibility or standalone OSAP funding. The OSAP lead here requires program-specific confirmation.
