I qualified as an optometrist abroad. Is there a route that builds on that training?

01 / Start with your situation

Your first steps

1. Follow the official international-optometry assessment sequence and establish whether you can seek ASOPP selection.
2. Ask Waterloo about the next eligible selection cycle, required evidence and progression after the preparatory term.
3. Request a complete multi-stage budget and financing advice. Confirm the separate Ontario examination and registration requirements.

02 / Compare real options

Programs and organizations to explore

Open a program to see requirements, costs, funding and the official starting point.

03 / Check affordability

Possible funding

These are leads to assess individually. Loans must be repaid, and grants have conditions.

04 / Before you commit

Important distinctions

• The preparatory program is not an immediate Ontario licence, and selection or progression is not guaranteed.
• The preparatory stage is explicitly not OSAP eligible; do not assume a loan can cover the entire route.
